Alongside our core services of licensing the performance of music and distributing royalties to our members, we also seek to provide benefits and support to our members. As an APRA or AMCOS member you will receive exclusive information, advice, and services and benefits. Also, through the reciprocal agreements APRA and AMCOS have with the performing right societies around the world, the public performances and broadcasts of your works are not only monitored within Australasia, they are also monitored worldwide.
Prior to receiving your first royalty payment, you will be elected to full membership by our Board. As an elected member you will receive additional member benefits, including the bi-annual APRAP magazine, the Member Benefits Card and you will also be able to enter the APRA Silver Scroll Awards.
Staying in touch
One of the most important benefits we can provide is information. APRA|AMCOS informs its members through the APRA|AMCOS website, email newsletters, APRAP magazine, member seminars, and through personal contact with staff. Our publications section includes past APRAP magazines which feature articles to help members keep abreast of industry developments and develop their careers.
To keep you up to date with what’s happening at APRA|AMCOS and in the music industry generally, we hold a number of events and seminars for members across the country. You will be invited to the seminars and events that take place in your local area by APRA. These member events include annual events for new members called 'Connect at APRA', 'Songwriter Speaks' events where members can hear from fellow songwriters and composers who have experienced success in the industry, as well as a range of other one-off seminars and workshops, which feature APRA representatives as well as industry experts. All these events also give you the chance to expand your networks by getting to know other composers and songwriters in your area. To find out what’s coming up in your area, check our Events Calendar.
Supporting the New Zeland music industry
As a membership organisation representing songwriters and composers, APRA|AMCOS understands the importance of encouraging and supporting a home-grown music industry. We do this in a number of ways: by rewarding creative excellence at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards, supporting organisations that support the NZ music industry with the APRA NZ Music Grants, encouraging the professional development of up and coming composers with the Professional Development Award and more generally, through giving our members the advice they need.
